Joe’s Office Tour: From a Kentucky Boy’s Dream to a Ralph Lauren-Inspired Office
My husband Joe grew up as a poor Kentucky boy with big dreams. One of those dreams was to someday have his very own office.
Then, after landing his first sales job, he added another dream to the list… his very own bathroom! LOL!
Well, dreams do come true!
I recently decided to politely bug Joe while he was working and give everyone a little tour of his office. And by politely, I mean walking right in with my camera. Ha!
I love a handsome, masculine office, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite decorating tips.
My 6 Tips for Designing a Handsome Man’s Office
Start with COLOR! I love dark, moody colors. Visit a men’s Ralph Lauren boutique for fabulous inspiration.
Pick the desk next. It’s the centerpiece! Build the room around it.
Measure everything. Plan your rug, chairs, and furniture placement before buying.
Mix beautiful pieces. Think leather, wood, antique books, interesting objects, and personal family photos.
Layer your lighting. A handsome desk lamp and warm lighting make all the difference.
NO CLUTTER! Less is more. Beautiful accessories lose their charm when buried under piles of stuff!
And speaking of clutter…
This is probably my biggest challenge with Joe’s offices in both California and Texas. My sweet husband is a bit of a hoarder! LOL! Apparently, we need to keep EVERYTHING!
