Classic Easter Brunch Recipes We Make Every Year (Family Traditions from My Mom’s Kitchen)

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays.

Maybe it’s the pinks and pastels, the dresses, and the fact that it’s actually acceptable to wear a beautiful hat to church for once. But the real reason I love Easter is the family tradition.

My mom has always been the one who keeps us all connected. No matter how busy life gets, Easter Sunday means gathering at her house. The same kitchen, the same laughter, and the same dishes we’ve been eating for years.

And yes… we still have an Easter egg hunt every year.

I’m proud to say I usually win. 😄

But now we have a new grandson in the family, so I may have to start preparing to lose my bragging rights soon.

One thing that never changes though is the Easter brunch table. These are some of my favorite Easter brunch recipes and my suggested easy options that always make the day feel special.

Deviled Eggs with Sweet Pickle Twist (My Favorite Easter Appetizer)

Deviled eggs are a classic Easter brunch recipe and honestly one of my favorite traditions. If they’re on the table, they disappear fast.

This version adds a simple twist with sweet pickle relish, which gives them a slightly sweet and tangy flavor that works perfectly with the creamy filling.

Ingredients

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish

  • Salt and pepper

  • Paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice eggs in half and remove yolks.

  2. Mash yolks in a bowl.

  3. Mix with mayonnaise, mustard, and sweet pickle relish.

  4. Spoon or pipe mixture back into egg whites.

  5. Sprinkle lightly with paprika.

Classic Potato Salad (My Suggested Easy Starch Option)

Instead of a heavy casserole, potato salad is my suggested easy starch option for Easter brunch. It’s lighter, easy to make ahead, and pairs perfectly with ham.

  • ¼ cup red onion diced

  • salt and pepper

Princess Diana’s Famous Bread Pudding (Looking to Really Impress?)

If you’re looking to really impress your Easter guests, this dessert is a wonderful choice.

My mom actually makes a version of the famous bread and butter pudding loved by Princess Diana. It’s warm, comforting, and feels just a little elegant—perfect for a holiday gathering.

Princess Diana’s former royal chef shared that this was one of her favorite desserts. The recipe combines buttered bread, rich custard, raisins soaked in amaretto, and toasted almonds, creating a dessert that’s simple but incredibly delicious.

It’s the kind of dish that fills the house with the most amazing smell while it bakes.

Why This Dessert Is Perfect for Easter

  • comforting and traditional

  • easy to prepare ahead of time

  • feels special for a holiday meal

  • always a crowd favorite

Serve warm with:

  • whipped cream

  • vanilla sauce

  • or powdered sugar

Why Easter Traditions Matter

For me, Easter isn’t just about the recipes.

It’s about family traditions.

Going to my mom’s house.Seeing the same familiar dishes on the table.Laughing together and heading outside for the egg hunt.

Now with my new grandson joining the tradition, Easter is starting a whole new chapter for our family.

And someday he’ll probably remember the same things I do — the laughter, the family, and the smell of Easter brunch cooking in the kitchen.

A Favorite Easter Bible Verse

"He is not here; He has risen, just as He said."Matthew 28:6
